Volunteer Terms

Thank you for volunteering for GO: a community-curated open studio project. Brooklyn is a big place and we need all the help we can get to make GO successful. Whatever you can do, large or small, we’re thrilled to have your help. When you register to participate as a volunteer, we ask you to acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the following terms:

  • The information I provided at volunteer registration is true, accurate, and complete.

  • As of registration, I am 18 years of age or older.

  • I agree that my contact information may be shared with neighborhood coordinators, so they may contact me about GO.

  • I will follow all guidelines provided to me by GO organizers and the Brooklyn Museum.

  • I will act and communicate at all times with high standards, professionalism, and good taste; will be responsive to the requests of the GO organizers and the Brooklyn Museum; and will do nothing to damage the property, reputation, or goodwill of the Brooklyn Museum.

  • I will report for the shifts/tasks assigned by neighborhood coordinators and GO organizers, in appropriate attire. If I am unable to accomplish selected duties, I will give at least 48 hours notice prior to the start time of the shift/task.

  • I understand that I may be asked to engage in tasks with moderate physical activity, which has been adequately described to me, and I acknowledge that I am in good health and capable of such activity.

  • During GO, photographers may be documenting the activities taking place. I agree that the Brooklyn Museum may photograph me and use such photographs in any media for the Brooklyn Museum’s educational, promotional, information, or fundraising purposes.

  • If I come into possession of any confidential information, I agree not to disclose any such information while I am a volunteer or at any time thereafter.

  • I understand that I am not and will not be considered an employee or agent of the Brooklyn Museum, nor will I receive compensation or other benefits whatsoever. The Brooklyn Museum will not be liable for any actions I take in furtherance of my work as a volunteer, both on and off the Brooklyn Museum’s premises.

  • I fully release and agree to indemnify the Brooklyn Museum and any of its officers, trustees, agents, or employees from any claim, suit, action, loss, expense, or liability relating to or arising from GO, or my participation in GO, including both on and off the Brooklyn Museum’s premises and any online presence I publish through the Brooklyn Museum’s website.

  • Any action arising out of, in connection with, or related to this release shall be brought in any Federal or State court located in New York County and the State of New York. I hereby consent to the jurisdiction of these courts.
