Artist Statement

My work draws on the interplay of line, form and color to reconnect emotion with thought and perception. In this approach, the artist pursues a result in which true sensation supplants realistic form. Many of my paintings work in this vein by re-creating feeling and its sense of reality in a dynamic structure of fabricated color and form. My digital line drawings seek a similar result, but by exploring a process that transforms negative and positive space. The drawing procedure provides another avenue to pursue my engagement with the emotion of the line.
