Artist Statement

I am trying to make epic work in an era where the traditional epic no longer exists. The whole idea of an epic seems suspect when you look too hard at it, perhaps. The everyday, when well articulated, can be epic. All the painterly tensions one hopes to find in a work of art can also be epic. My paintings and books (the books are illegible) are my attempt to rediscover the old epic in my own idiom.

My studio is in Chashama's studio program, and other artists in the space will also have their studios open.
