Artist Statement

Sharilyn Neidhardt is a Brooklyn-based painter and photojournalist. Her work explores themes of fame, optics, and current events in the digital age. Sharilyn participated in Bushwick Open Studios with a body of work called 'Conflict and Celebrity Disasters'. In Ms Neidhardt's paintings, Snooki's mugshot becomes a devotional image and riot cops pose for a history painting. Sharilyn collects vinyl records, loves single malt scotch,and speaks only a little German. Keanu Reeves once lit a cigarette for her.
