Artist Statement
Mary Schwab holds a BFA in sculpture from Parsons, The New School and was a 2012 resident at the Vermont Studio Center. Her work has been exhibited in both group and solo shows in New York. Mary has also taught and lectured on art and artistic practice at institutions nationwide.
Her interest lies in the multiple levels of representation and distillation between temporal and permanent events and objects. Her current practice uses a wide range of materials from casting to drawing, photography, video, sound, salt, water, fire and flora.
