Artist Statement

Creating public sculptures, the challenge has been to stimulate the human mind towards reaffirming respect for life. My goal is to expedite work that fosters cross-cultural dialogues through a visual language. The universal elements of light, water, air and earth are enveloped and distilled through my projects which span over thirty years, especially those that focus on urban environmental design. The most significant examples being, "The First Symphony of the Sea", a relief wall outside the Coney Island Aquarium, the Queens Library entrance "Diagonal Sonata", and the World Trade Center Memorial proposal, "Invasion of Light" which became a finalist.
