Artist Statement

The kind of artwork that excites me most is that where the viewer is invited to appreciate the process of the work, to deconstruct it, to see the sketch lines, to peel back the layers in order to understand its history. Like people, all art has a history.

As my work shifts between two- and three-dimensions, I let each process guide me and strive to remain open to new discoveries. If my artwork has a mission, it is to put my hands to work responding to the ideas, realities, mysteries, and amusements that are my life experience.

The Guestbook

AMS says: Phaedra's sculpture is alive and jumping! Reminescent of a "cheerful" Giacometti and Calder.

jsharpfoto says: I loved the simple imagery and creativity of Phaedra's work.

kmulvaney says: Gorgeous work made with unusual materials. How does she make cement look so light and graceful?! Also, the idea of showing some evidence of the art making process in the final piece is very thought provoking.

helevision says: Unique talent!!!
