I work in the open studio of BAG--3rd floor of 168 7th street between 2nd/3rd Ave. The Bell House is right down the street.
Artist Statement
I am working in encaustic almost exclusively--a wax based medium that has to be heated and fused to a substrate. The process is physical and sensual and the medium is quite versatile. Because the wax can be both translucent and opaque I can choose whether to obscure the under layer or reveal it in part or whole. I like to believe that the viewer will be intrigued by the veiled imagery and, like interpreting hieroglyphics, discover or imagine the narrative hidden in the work.
Lately I've used neighborhood pigeons as subjects in my encaustic paintings.

emily.goodman.965 says: I loved the ancient, "primitive" feel of these drawings and the encaustic technique. Thanks!
