Artist Statement

The complex and immersive situations my performances create involve the amalgamation of sound, movement, and imagery. My interest in the precarious is rooted in my experience of domestic violence and my desire to understand its meaning. I think the intense psychological violence of Korean horror films comes from the oppressive Korean modern history. I understand that the violence that I experienced on a personal level comes from this social and historical context, and the relationships between the oppressor and the victim can be complex. My labyrinths are where contradictions of beings are embraced and new orders are created for them.
