Artist Statement

My practice echoes the overwhelming contemporary compulsion for excessive self-improvement (renovating, customizing, replacing, reshaping), by examining the visual-material relationship between futility and beauty. Imbuing discarded/disposed-of, common and unsophisticated objects with glamour and gestures of aspiration, my work questions traditional notions of utility, and seeks beauty thru highlighting their aesthetic value. Through endless operations of adorning, tinkering, breaking and repairing, my preoccupation with honing the evocative potential of every detail results in new forms infused with moments of uncanny specificity.
