Artist Statement

Gregory Forstner’s mises en sc?ne rely on painting stories that are often embodied by a hero, or rather an anti-hero, together with actions that condense both religious and literary mythological narratives.
His recent works draw inspiration from 19th-century illustrations of the American epic, in which the story is clearly being told to the advantage of white society and willingly forgetful of the fact that for every white cowboy, there were also three black ones.
