Artist Statement

My paintings sprung from the strata of subconscious energy, evident in swift, potent, dark brush strokes applied without reflection, followed by a second stage where subtle changes and additions are made selectively. As Matisse did, in his last years, I too realized that the color black would lead to simplicity, purity of forms, and the originality that I pursued.
