Artist Statement

I use "body" to instigate awareness in others; extricating personal events and body function, as if they are a performance. Displacing the social anxieties, which render the events challenging, is key. Through this method I seek to re-contextualize the “everyday,” and to inject a profound sense of body into the social and moral order that supplies the framework and context of “everyday” existence— challenging modern notions of self and sexuality. I use traditional and unconventional technique while referencing folk and primal epitomes, as a means to respond to my—and hopefully also our—most fundamental metaphysical questions.
