Artist Statement

My paintings are abstractions of faux handwritten languages primarily Asian with a focus on brushwork and line which lead to gestural, meditational, and chanting abstractions.

My sculpture is about global mythological symbolism, Buddhist iconography, transcendence, and transformation.

Expect to see over 60 framed pieces, 25 sculptures, 4 portfolios, and upon request, 60 canvases that are accessible which are currently rolled up because of their size.

My MFA, and BFA are from the CIA and MICA (both art schools) and I have been a professional artist in NYC for 25 years. I am an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing.

The Guestbook

windsorwanderer says: Though Ms. Eckdahl seems most inspired by her busts at the moment, I was less interested in them than in her meditative works on paper. They truly are beautiful and show great depth. I was unclear what to think about her fake Chinese calligraphy.
