Artist Statement

The work reflects the dichotomy between the boundless possibilities of human beings' vision and the societal ramifications and dark realities sometimes resulting from our pursuit of progress. I update while paying homage to centuries-old myths and the lessons they teach by blending them with elements of modern technological advancement.
In a series of hand-woven tapestries, for example, I bind hip-hop vernacular with ancient Far-Eastern sensibilities. This explores identity and empathy to unfamiliar cultures while questioning the imposed or forced import/export of outside culture.
