Artist Statement
Cornelia Ruehlicke's paintings are a meditation on the
universal symbolism of the pearl. She is exploring it's power as a metaphor for light and transcendence of this
mysterious object of nature. In her work, it symbolizes our relationship between humanity and nature. Stepping into, being part of, merging with -
" BEING NATURE - we are nature "(as Pollock once said).
Striving to be in harmony with our environment, is her focus and the pearl is her protagonist.
