Artist Statement

We constantly receive large amounts of visual information at high speeds and loud volumes. In order to deal with this, we are conditioned to glean “enough” information in the least amount of time. My response is to distill this high-speed-pop-up-big-image-fluorescing-color language and use it to approach the problems of painting rooted in art history: light, color, and space. I hope to ask questions about the human condition, both in its historical relationship to image making and its contemporary relationship to an increasingly digitized and de-materialized world. In the end painting is just another competing screen.
