Artist Statement

I am a photo-based artist and a writer. If my work could find its place in the body, it would live inside the belly, the gut, that space where vowels are felt.

I love to I experiment with various photographic media, often re-contextualizing or using collage in a variety of ways. "This Enormous Everything," is a hybrid work, fusing painting and photography. Each image samples dozens of photographs and digitally parses them over the scaffold of a scanned painting. "Night Garden" (a work-in-progress) invites its audience to participate at a distance while I photograph my mother's garden over the summer.
