Artist Statement
My photos explore folk traditions around the globe. "Clockwork: Papua" portrays the mise-en-scene of a war ceremony and its protagonists. I research and focus on boundaries where traditions merge with contemporary life, boundaries between my inner self and the world, between the self and the other, between the lances and the gourds. When space, psyche and relational contexts can be perceived without explanatory words, the image has a spiritual resonance; it stands by itself and will catch the observer's eye and soul. When I look through the lens nothing but what I'm framing exists or, at least, that's my goal.
The Guestbook
veronique.alaimo says: Stefania is a world class photographer that makes you travel through the poignant images of the forgotten people!
david.f.gibson.92 says: unique and very insightful and such a sacrifice to get these pictures
tenten2012 says: Zamparelli is a photographer, who commits acts of social disappearance. Her laidback approach gives her access to the Mongolian/Khazak steppes, to a band of horseriders and an insane asylum in Afghanistan, to a dinner with Papua Indians, without an interpreter in sight. Her photo work is fast composed, rigorously documented scenes of ways of life that are on death row from globalist interference.
andrea.gaberscik says: Love your work!!!
tippytippy says: Stefania, you are an amazing artist! Your work is evocative of distant places and people and yet what it portrays is not at all a sense of remoteness but a beauty and a strength that is as present and urgent as our here and now, and as precious. Expressions and gestures of your subjects are seized in instances of rare poetry, and the image moves within long after the eye has left the frame. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
Tesshenry says: Amazing Work - Brava Stefania!

jsjbklyn says: Stefania has the tenacity to seek out instances of human community and vitality that are more essential than what often consumes the "1st world". As a deeply talented and experienced photographer she's able capture glimpses of the individuals who inhabit that life and share it with us.
