Artist Statement

Robin Epstein is a rare kind of urban person; one who understands the imaginative possibilities of nature. She was born in Brooklyn as a third generation Brooklynite, and she grew up in Brownsville, Kensington, Sheepshead Bay, and finally Canarsie. At age one, while staying in a bungalow colony in the Sullivan County Catskills, she first saw trees in groups, streams, and fields of grass. Robin painted in the woods of Long Island, New York. She became fascinated by the visual and spiritual nature of trees, which have been a motif throughout her painting career.

Cbienlein says: Such a cool studio--and so much variety! Robin Epstein has painted the Coney Island boardwalk (in snow), the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the ginkgo trees on East 7th Street, and California redwood groves. The focus is usually nature, and she has a very personal vision.

Erelyea says: Fantastic post-impressionist paintings of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Moody, expressive, and colorful.
