Artist Statement

I have developed a style of using oil paint on gessoed watercolor paper. This method is fun, interesting and challenging at times. A quick sketch along with photos, some notes on the colors and scene, and I'm ready to start. A composition sketch and a color study follow before the final begins. Thickly applied oils on the main subject dilute to a dreamlike watercolor effect toward the edges. I will be displaying the work submitted as well as similar pieces. I will also have plein-air paintings done in Prospect Park and Park Slope on view.
