Artist Statement

I create graphic and cartoony paintings and drawings of animal-like imagery. The composition is intuitive and arrived upon randomly. Sometimes I start out with a simple element such as an eye, an abstract shape or succession of marks and build from there. I utilize different techniques within one drawing to create patterns that simulate hair, fur or an animalistic quality such as a paw scratching. The imagery is a vehicle to express different emotional states that tend to be arresting in nature.
