Artist Statement

Being part of two cultures, Chinese and American, my background inspires and informs many of my paintings. I hope my paintings convey both the beauty and the emotion of my subjects.
I am currently working on a series of female portrait paintings . My subjects come from close friends at Fashion Institute of Technology where I am a professor . In all of these portraits and some still life paintings, I have incorporating the use of egg tempera; it is a painting process that uses egg yolk to bind pigments.
