Artist Statement

In gestural abstractions made using a standard paint roller, I investigate the boundary between the man-made and the natural. My movement through the painting is indexed by areas and trails that are semi-transparent and complexly layered. I am interested in the local and specific, in the unrepeatable action. Saturated colors act and counter-act to produce an emblematic image. The finished work is a terrain that viewers can inhabit and explore.
