Artist Statement

I am interested in how emotions can form neurological networks within the body. The flesh and bone-like qualities of the wax and sculptural resin I use are a way of integrating vulnerability with science. I feel that I am creating biologically inspired self-portraits and internal landscapes. Topographical maps, where conscious morphs with subconscious, giving form to unremembered memories.

The Guestbook

gcsSUGAR says: This studio visit was saturated with intrigue. I did not know whether to approach Seren's artwork as painting or sculpture. So, I embraced them as both. She pushes, pulls, stretches, and explores the limits of paint through her intense research of binders and mediums. Her paintings become "showoffs" in the best way possible, transforming out and away from the traditional whelms of canvas and paint yet maintaining a wonderful landscape and portrait of painting and paint itself.

youngster68 says: Loved the organic textures - surreal, creepy, awesome. Reminded me of flesh and worms but also so serene (!) and the colors were also amazing. Beautiful work!
