Artist Statement

For me painting is an ongoing philosophical inquiry conducted visually, as well as a daily act of civil disobedience. I'm presently working on a series of 29 figurative paintings of pigeons. Although they will likely end up in separate collections, they are meant as a single installation. They can be thought of as a polyptych consisting of 29 paintings, all equal in size and aspect ratio. These paintings have a subversive intent, and represent a deconstructive argument expressed aesthetically. The actual subject matter is phenomenological, and the pigeons function as an extension of the medium.
