Artist Statement
This is the final body in a symmetrical trilogy of work made in three cultures over ten years, entitled:
"Ephemera & Culture: Italy, Turkey, Japan—a Trilogy"
Part-1, ITALY (West), started at the American Academy in Rome in 2003 while a Visiting Artist there and was exhibited in New York. Part-2, JAPAN (East), began in Kyoto while on a Specialist Fulbright and exhibited in New York and Antwerp. Part-3, TURKEY (East/West-gateway), began in Istanbul and continues from a more recent trip to Andalusia.
My work has evolved into a hybrid-practice that combines painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, and digital imaging into larger installations.
