Artist Statement
I use thread, ink, and pencil within a grid format to explore line, density and color. The lines appear identical but on closer inspection it becomes clear that some lines are sewn while others are drawn. The thread has a sculptural element while the drawn lines rest flat upon the paper. Comparing them becomes inevitable and the drawn line can be seen as a representation of the thread lines and visa-versa. The drawn line reveals the natural instability of the hand, a human element, something I aim to maintain in my work.
The Guestbook
Alidanui says: She has developed a low-tech process into highly-refined elegant work. she has shown inventiveness and variety in working with a specific set of materials.
lorikeet says: Unique and evocative use of thread and depth perception in these geometric creations. Art draws the eye to the paper and allows for a somatic response to the color. Truly transformative!
